What we hear from hair salons

  • Answering "are you free Saturday?" fifty times a week
  • Double-bookings when the front desk and a stylist both say yes
  • Colour appointments no-showed with three hours of the chair gone
  • Client history living in a diary that cannot be searched

Questions hair salons ask

How much does a booking system for hair salons cost in South Africa?

Allsorts Bookings is R89 a month for a single calendar, R179 for up to five staff calendars, and R349 for unlimited staff plus a custom domain. Prices are in Rand and billed in Rand — there is no exchange-rate surprise on the invoice. Every account starts with a 14-day free trial and no card is required to begin.

Can I take a deposit when a client books?

Yes. You can require a deposit or full payment before a slot is confirmed, taken through your own PayFast account or by EFT, so the money goes straight to you rather than sitting with us. Most salons use it on the services that get no-showed most, not on everything.

Is there a salon booking system that works in South Africa?

Allsorts Bookings is built for it. Pricing is in Rand rather than dollars, payments run through PayFast and EFT rather than Stripe, the times are in SAST, and the data handling meets POPIA. Most of the well-known international salon systems bill in USD and cannot take a South African deposit without a workaround.

Can clients book a specific stylist?

Yes, or they can pick "any available" and take the first open slot. Both options are on the same booking page and you choose which stylists appear.

Is there a free version?

There is a 14-day free trial with every feature switched on and no card required. After that the lowest paid plan is R89 a month. We do not run a permanently free tier — a booking page that disappears or starts showing ads is worse for your clients than one that costs less than a single missed appointment.

Is it POPIA compliant?

Yes. Client data is stored in a way that meets South Africa's POPIA requirements — clients consent when they book, you can export or delete a client's data on request, and we do not sell or share it. There is a full explanation on our POPIA-compliant booking page.
